ASU Academic Bowl

Tonight was the first round for the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education Academic Bowl Team. This is important since I am the Captain of the team. $22,000 in scholarships to the winning team in the competition.

Competition started at 7pm and concluded at approximately 7:40pm.

The final score was:

Mary Lou Fulton College of Education           330

School of Global Management and Leadership    40

Yes, it looks like tomorrow's industrial leaders are in need of further education. I guess we will leave that to others since our team has obviously taught them more than they could handle.

[whistle blows, yellow flag thrown, referee steps off 15 yards for taunting]

Um, yes. Next round is October 25

It is that time of year.................ALL RIGHT!!

Well,

today is the one year anniversary of my marriage to SunWitch. We have been together for three and a half years but finally married last year. Its been great. There have been highs and lows like with anyone but, I have loved every minute with her. There have been shocks and there have been some unexpected events but even then I have loved her every minute. I just wanted to share with you, my friends, how I feel about this most important person in my life.

Happy Anniversary Baby

What to do now

Well, finals were last week, most of my grades have not been posted yet. Of my four classes i am worried about two. The last 6 weeks of the semester I had to skip alot of classes and assignments to take care of my wife, so while I worry about my grades I don't worry about them if that makes sense. Family is more important than anything else.

Talked to my boss this week, he is working on getting me 40 hours a week up from my current 16 (because of school). Had to tell him that they could only be during overnight hours and weekend so that I could take care of wife and daughter. He thinks he can arrange a schedule that will work. At least this is only for the summer, come August, its back to part time so that I can concentrate on school. Already have my financial aid package and it looks good. If wife goes back to school next semester she should get the same so we could be looking at an unusual situation - having enough to take care of our bills, past, present and future. Still need to see if I can finally qualify for a student loan so that there are no situations that cannot be covered. If at all possible, never file for bankrupsy, it really kills your ability to do things - obviously.

Even with work and family I should finally have time to work on my website again, actually put it together so that it is fun again. Right now its bits and pieces of crap. I plan on dumping 99% of it and just starting over. Where I used to have html pages to pass on information alot of the new stuff will be posted as downloadable [maybe] pdfs, this way I will just have the old Kurita House Book from FanPro as a link and will not have to worry about having too much copywrited material actually used on the site. Plan to add all the charts for building large units (like the 2nd Sword of Light Mech Regiment) and some sheets I have used in the past to organize such units. The new site will also carry the senarios that the Solaris7 Coalition used at the two GenCons listed with all the units and sheets available to anyone. Further smaller senarios will also be listed with the sheets for those forces. I'm thinking of adding a generator so that a player can plug in unit information and get a senario made for him/her as well as appropriate forces with sheets, but that will have to wait for a not to be named sourcebook to be released so that I can use up to date point data to build the generator.

Well, enough about the website. Wife is sick and laid up, but looks like at least the sickness is finally getting the hell out of Dodge. The daughter is just short of 2 years old and acting like she is already in the middle of her year of hell. But lover her anyway LOL.

See Wombat!! I can to update more than once a year! LOL

Things happening around the house

Well, things are happening and some are good some are bad.

First off, the contractor has begun destruction at the house; the addition that the last owner put on the house has been torn down completely (it never met code, never had a permit, and was completely and totally illegal - and we didn't know it). There is now a large patio where there was once a room with a bath, needless to say Robyn (my daughter) has enjoyed the new space to explore but we have to keep a better eye on her because one of the things to go with the addition was the fence - Robyn likes walking around to the front yard and it cacti.

Today, the contractor starts cutting concrete so that the footings for the new foundation can be poured. The plumbing for the old bathroom has to be moved so that it is correct for the new half bath that will be going in - oh, also so that it actually MEETS code as well.

The Bad - I've been out of the Army for 10 years and 1 month, which means of course that my GI Bill ended last month. At the same time my wife's VA bennefits ended. We are suddenly $1800 short a month in money coming into the house. Been trying to secure a student loan so that we can continue to go to school, but she does not work (disabled) and if I work more than half-time I lose my financial aid. Getting the loan has been difficult because last year I had to declare bankrupsy to get out from under over 45k in bills from my divorce. So now my wife (WarpedWitch aka SunWitch) has good credit but no income, I have bad credit and not enough income and our families are saying "Just take less showers, that will take care of all your problems."

In the end, we will get it figured out - someone will co-sign for the loan sometime. Or we will find enough grants/scholarships that we can get soon, at least we had better, $200 in the bank and mortgage, daycare, insurance are due soon, does not make for a great outlook.

At the request of friends and family::: An Update

Hello All,

latest news: Jess and I got married Monday (May 16, 2005) by a Justice of the Peace - cool guy, had a personality very much like ours.

Robyn Update: almost walking on her own, though she will drop to the ground quick enough so that she can scoot somewhere real quick, and she is definately cutting 2 teeth.

school update: failed another course, but averaged "B's" in the rest of them. GPA is finally back up to a 2.0 since the fiasco that was the Fall Semester.

Update Update: there will be further updates on a regular basis throughout the summer and fall

Mike
